"rich" in life because I get to call the Blue Ridge Mountains home

Описание: I didn’t wake up one day and suddenly move to the mountains. This was something I wanted for YEARS and thought about quietly while living my life elsewhere and wondering if it would ever actually happen.

I grew up in North Carolina in the Triad (mostly in Davie County and then Forsyth County after college) but the mountains always felt like where I was meant to be 🌲💗 I always loved dragging my family, friends, and boyfriends on hikes or up to the Blue Ridge Parkway whenever I could hehe :)

I’ve been in Asheville for two years now. Before moving, I spent some time debating bigger cities like Charlotte or Raleigh, but choosing a place that felt right in my day-to-day life mattered more to me than choosing what made the most sense on paper.

A few honest thoughts from my experience as a 28-year-old living in Asheville: I can’t speak to the job market since I’m self-employed, but from what I’ve heard, it’s probably best to move here with a job lined up. It’s not cheap and finding housing isn’t easy but it’s doable!! I’m here for the nature more than anything else. Despite some of the negative narratives you see online, I’ve never felt unsafe here. And (respectful) tourists don’t bother me whatsoever!! They’re so needed and support local businesses.
