Foundation for Child Development (FCD) is a Thai non-government organization that aims to foster child development in all its forms-body, mind and spirit. Working at both the international and grassroots level, the foundation focuses on seeking-and applying-positive solutions to the challenges facing children and youth. Poverty, displacement and the effects of social change are just some of the hardships borne by many Thai children. Relevant policies and creative programs are urgently needed to meet the region's unique needs. FCD is a public charity no. 179.
FCD is committed to ensuring the present and future well being of children, and works closely with other NGOs, government agencies, community leaders, parents, and most importantly, children themselves. FCD programs and activities aim to build local capacity, and stress partnership, empowerment and sustainability. Established in 1982, FCD was one of the first organizations in Thailand to raise and address the issue of child labour through its Child Labour Project.
