PM Modi launches ‘Mission Mausam’, flags need to develop earthquake warning system

Описание: India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched 'Mission Mausam' initiated by the Indian Meteorological Department-IMD on its 150th Foundation Day. PM Modi said that IMD was a symbol of India's scientific journey since it has served crores of Indians for 150 years and announced that a postage stamp and a special coin have also been released to celebrate the achievements. He also flagged the need to develop earthquake warning system. He said in the last 10 years, there has been an unprecedented expansion of the infrastructure and technology of IMD, including Doppler weather radar, automatic weather stations and runway weather monitoring systems. The IMD is the national meteorological agency of India, responsible for weather forecasting, monitoring, and issuing warnings related to severe weather events. The former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai, has welcomed the final statement from the International Conference in Pakistan on Girls’ Education in Islamic Countries and emphasized that education of girls is an undeniable and fundamental right.
