"You know, it is heartbreaking to see what we see here and to hear the stories and of course we saw these atrocities on TV, and we saw the pictures, but being here, talking to people who witnessed this, listening to them its really heartbreaking. So, there is no excuse for anyone. No matter the economic costs, no matter the political costs - we have to stop the war and we have to make sure that these kinds of atrocities will never repeat. And those, who are guilty of such atrocities they should be sanctioned, they should be punished."

"Moldova is fragile and vulnerable country and the war against Ukraine, the Russian aggression proves that, yes, danger is there, and we should be always aware of this and we should do everything to stop those countries, in this case Russia, which is invading a sovereign state, Ukraine."

STORYLINE:
The president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, traveled to neighboring Ukraine on Monday and visited the town of Bucha - the site of an alleged Russian massacre of civilians earlier in the war - among other Kyiv suburbs.
She met with Bucha Mayor Anatoily Fedoruk and was taken around the area to see how it had been affected by the conflict.
“No matter the economic costs, no matter political costs we have to stop war and we have to make sure that these kinds of atrocities will never repeat,” Maia Sandu said.
She said it was “heartbreaking” to hear accounts from witnesses and victims of the war.
Sandu was expected to meet with Zelenskyy during her visit, her office said on social media.
