About the Case
Former Uvalde CISD police officer Adrian Gonzales is charged with 29 counts of child endangerment and abandonment connected to the May 24, 2022 shooting at Robb Elementary School, where 19 children and two teachers were killed. Prosecutors allege Gonzales failed to take appropriate action during the active attack. Gonzales has pleaded not guilty.
Day 9 in Court:
Ranger Cody Allen (Texas Rangers) testified about Leica scan technology used to document and preserve the Robb Elementary crime scene. These scans create detailed visual records that investigators can reference while reconstructing where evidence was located and how the scene unfolded.
Lt. Nick Hill (Texas Department of Public Safety – Data Analyst / Homeland Security) walked jurors through a reconstructed timeline built from surveillance footage, officer radio traffic, and evidence markers. He testified the gunman fired shots both before and after entering the building, and that the total rounds fired included 173 by the shooter, 35 by police, and one unknown. According to Hill, Adrian Gonzales arrived at the west gate around 11:31:41, with shots fired before and after his arrival — including six shots before Gonzales arrived, and two more between Gonzales arriving and stopping his car. Hill said Gonzales radioed “shots fired” 14 seconds after parking at 11:32:09. He testified 16 shots were fired along the west side of the school as the gunman approached, entering the west side around 11:32:49, dropping a bag while moving along the building. The shooter entered Robb Elementary at approximately 11:32:59, then entered Room 111 at about 11:33:45, without entering other rooms. Hill testified 21 shots were fired before the gunman entered Room 111, and that 117 shots had been fired by the time Gonzales had been on scene for about four minutes. He also testified officers Gonzales and Page entered the building at 11:35:46 and 11:35:48, after the gunman was already inside. Hill stated Gonzales had better coverage and concealment compared to other officers arriving at the scene. After entering Room 111, Hill said the gunman never exited again.
