🥧 Egg Pie Recipe
Ingredients
Crust:
1½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup cold butter (cubed)
¼ cup sugar
1 egg yolk
2–3 tbsp cold water
OR use a ready-made pie crust to save time.
Filling:
3 large eggs
1 can (370 ml) evaporated milk
1 can (300 ml) condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Prepare the crust
Combine flour and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
Add egg yolk and cold water (1 tbsp at a time) until dough forms.
Wrap and chill for 20–30 minutes.
Roll out and press into a pie pan. Prick with a fork.
Make the filling
In a bowl, whisk eggs gently (avoid bubbles).
Add evaporated milk, condensed milk, vanilla, and salt. Mix until smooth.
Assemble
Pour filling into the prepared crust.
Optional: sprinkle a little nutmeg on top.
Bake
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is set but slightly jiggly.
Cool & serve
Let cool completely to set.
Serve chilled or at room temperature.
