The system uses 8 heated drops (hot runner nozzles) to deliver molten plastic from the injection machine into the mould. Each drop feeds a sub-runner (cold runner) that distributes the melt to 8 cavities, resulting in a total of 64 cavities (8 × 8).
In a semi hot runner system, the main runner and drops are temperature-controlled to keep the material molten, while the final distribution to each cavity is done through short cold runners. This design balances cost efficiency and performance, reducing material waste compared to a full cold runner system while being more economical than a fully hot runner mould.
