STORYLINE:
Dozens of people protested near a main Israeli seaport on Thursday in opposition to humanitarian aid being sent into the Gaza Strip during the war.
The protesters sat in front of the Ashdod port's entrance and asked trucks where their goods were destined.
It was not clear if they managed to block any trucks, nor is it clear if any aid destined for Gaza comes in through Ashdod, although the United Nations has asked Israel to allow aid to come in through the port.
Israel imposed a siege on Gaza in the first days of the war barring the entry of aid.
While it relented under U.S. pressure, the amount of aid has been fraction of what went into the territory before the war.
Israel's war in Gaza has triggered a humanitarian catastrophe.
Last month, the heads of three major U.N. agencies warned that Gaza urgently needs more aid or its population will suffer widespread famine and disease.
The U.N. has said it has been struggling to deliver aid to the north amid Israeli restrictions and continued fighting.
Several hundred thousand people are believed to remain in the north after most of the population fled south. U.N. officials say a quarter of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million are facing starvation.
