Story background:
After a boat explosion, Nicole suffered a memory loss and ended up spending time on an island owned by a mob doctor who had embezzled money and was in hiding. Fearing that Nicole could identify the location of his other hideaway, Paradise Island, the mobster sent a collection of assassins to eliminate Nicole before her memory could return.
One of those assassins, Van Rydell, has stalked Nicole for months. At one point, Adam Drake confronts Rydell, who pulls a gun. During the struggle, Adam is shot and is in a hospital room recovering during this episode.
Van Rydell then disguises himself as a cop, knocks Steve Guthrie unconscious and prepares to kill Nicole, but is shot before he can do it by Clay Jordan (another undercover mob guy). This episode begins in the hospital where Van is on the gurney struggling for his life.
Also included are a few scenes between Brandy and Draper Scott and Nicole and Steve Guthrie.
All of this is very titillating to me (I played Raven from 1977-1984) because during this 1976 episode, Ansel Scott (Draper’s father) is coming to town with Nadine and her daughter Raven. Ansel is going to marry Nadine, but Raven is currently having an affair with him. A few episodes after this one, Draper asks Brandy to marry him but she says she’s finished with romance. So Draper ends up being seduced by the “Ravenous Raven” who has been dumped by Ansel for her wealthy mother. Geraldine then asks Raven to move into the Whitney mansion with her and her adopted son Kevin. One year later, after the original Raven (Juanin Clay) left the show, I entered as the second Raven and Kevin became my first of eight soap husbands.
