John Travolta was a rising star at the time that he was cast in The Boy in the Plastic Bubble. The filming of the made-for-television feature had to take into account the actor’s busy schedule, which also included filming Welcome Back, Kotter. All in all, there were only 17 days when John was available to shoot the feature. Meanwhile, the rest of the performers involved in the production had much more availability. One such performer was Robert Reed. Robert had plenty of availability, but he also had a bad attitude about not being as in demand of a performer as John. Because of this, Robert developed a negative attitude toward the set of the picture.
