Exercise name: Giant Plank to Pike
Spring load:
1 yellow spring on the Megaformer
1 white spring in the XFormer
[modification: Well Plank to Pike OR Reverse Plank to Pike]
Position on the reformer:
at the back facing the front
What is a Plank to Pike exercise good for? What are the benefits of a Plank to Pike? What muscle are worked in a Plank to Pike?:
core, shoulders, chest, arms, hamstrings, calves
Setup:
hands on the carriage and feet on the back platform (legs and feet glued together)
[modification: legs and feet wider OR hands closer to the edge of the carriage]
Execution:
exhale as you loft from the center core of your body while sending the hips back and up
breathe in as you lower to the starting position
Avoid:
wrists and hands coming in past the shoulders
swinging the carriage in (you’re moving the carriage from the lifting of the center core)
