This episode of the series “Folks” from February 6, 1983, features Rob Hinton and Genevieve Stewart’s report on Flint-Goodridge Hospital in New Orleans. Their report covers: the history of the hospital, which was the only training hospital available to black doctors and nurses during segregation in Louisiana; Dillard University’s decision to sell the hospital; the unsuccessful effort of fifty African American physicians to buy the hospital; the impending sale of the hospital to National Medical Enterprises; and the possible impact of the sale on the doctors and nurses who work at Flint-Goodridge. They interview: Dr. William Adams, physician; Dr. Joseph Labat, Chief of Staff; Dr. Samuel Dubois Cook, the president of Dillard University; and Christell Morrison, nurse.
