A long time ago some catholic politicians masquerading as clerics began behaving badly and Martin Luther rebelled against them with his infamous 95 Thesis. Unfortunately, many questioned his authority and he had to find a claim to authority now that he wanted to run his rebellion and he couldn't claim direct lineage to Jesus Christ like the church did, so he claimed the Bible itself gave authority. This phrase "the bible alone" or "sufficiency of scripture" a.k.a. "sola scriptura" seems reasonable enough for Mideival politics right? Well... like many ideas that have worn out their welcome, the creed of Sola Scriptura has morphed into a modern false idol of sorts, but it's worse than that because it is an incompetent false idol. Here we explain why Sola Scriptura doesn't work!
