"Ambles Down The Lane" was written for a early scene in a World War II documentary in which an elderly couple slowly walks down an English village lane one quiet Spring morning before the start of the war. Listen carefully and you can hear birds chirping, dogs barking, cars, and even a cyclist, passing the couple. Then a light rain begins to fall just as the church bells call the couple to morning prayer. It was truly the calm before the storm.

Amusing side note: Most of the birds that you hear are field recordings of a willow thrush made in England. However, I accidentally left a window open when the main classical guitar track was recorded many months later back in Arizona, and I inadvertently ended up recording an American robin singing along. Thankfully, robins are in the Thrush family, and the bird calls sounded remarkably similar ... so so he got left in.

Album Liner Notes: I recall one of my music professors saying (rather dismissively) that soundtracks are "...music for people who'd rather watch a film." There's certainly some truth to this, although one of the things that our loose collective quickly found that we had in common was that much of our favorite music was either from film or television -- or at least sounded like it. So it's no surprise that when the opportunity arose to help out some students and academics by providing royalty-free music for their productions, several of us jumped at the chance to help out just for the fun of it.

"Incipit" is the first collection of compositions taken from two different academic documentaries, one involving World War II and the other involving English and Scottish myths and legends. This album is essentially a collection of rough mixes from the films, a few of which were used as discrete compositions, but most of which are compilations of different cues including Foley and and other audio from the films.
