Cool Tools - The Half-Scale Dressform - for Designing & Fitting

Описание: Today on Cool Tools I'm sharing my half scale dressform... One of my (newly discovered) favorite tools when I'm doing fitting or design work. I purchased this Half Scale Dressform many years ago (2013) at a Novi Sewing Expo. I thought it was a "cute" little thing to put on a shelf! ...and it sat there on my shelf until sometime last year when I was working on my bias top and dress pattern. Working on the bias uses a LOT of fabric and I wanted to test my theory about lengthening the top into a dress without having to blow through 2 + yards of fabric. I noticed my little dressform on the shelf and thought to myself... I could make a half scale sample that only needed a large scrap of fabric.. saving me time and money. This way, I could test it in the same linen fabrics I was sewing full size tops out of. I have plans to use this it to design new things in the future.

Another thing I'm using my half scale dressform for is to demonstrating fitting techniques as well as practicing new fitting adjustments. If you've been following along with me, you have seen me demonstrate techniques from the Efficient Work Flow for Bodice Fitting on my half scale dressform. I have found it really helpful to work with smaller pattern pieces before cutting up my full size pattern pieces.
