READ THIS BEFORE WATCHING this is a class so there are some mistakes. If you are not our student, do what your teacher says not what you see here. Omotesenke-ryu [表千家流] tea class [virus tea] September 4, 2020. For our students we are videoing our class so they can have some tea experience during the emergency. Since there is just the two of us there are some limitations on what we can do.
Today’s video shows the initial greetings, and chashakukazari at a noon tea, shogochaji. chashakukazari is for displaying a particularly important one. During a shogochaji the meal comes before the charcoal ceremony therefore the kettle is dusted at the end of this video before food would be served and instead of fixing the fire.
Chawan kazari is one of the five display procedures that can be part of a formal tea gathering at the time of the initial greeting. The others are tea storage jar, scroll, tea bowl and tea caddie.
As usual, questions, corrections and comments are encouraged.
