It's been a great start to the Perth downwind paddling season with the Doctor blowing and the skates starting to line up nicely. On Sunday I was joined by NZ's best ocean paddler Andy Mowlem (fresh from his win in Indian Ocean Paddlers Summer Series Race 2 the day before), Josh Trevarthen, Shaun and Brendan Rice and Brendo's partner Sammy who paddled with him on a double. We paddled the course for a new race (yet to be named) which will debut in mid January. From 3km's off Port Beach to the shore-break at Sorrento, this is without doubt Perth's best downwind course and is set to become another iconic event on the IOP calendar - approx. 25km's of downwind bliss!!
