In this video, I fish an abandoned army base for my favorite inshore species, Redfish and Speckled Trout! Fort Wool and Fort Monroe were constructed after the War of 1812 as a defense against the British invasion of the strategic Hampton Roads area and the James River. The Fort was turned over to the state of Virginia by the army in the 1970's. Read more here!

The fall fishing in the Chesapeake Bay is in full swing! Fort Wool's location on the south eastern island of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) is a great place to target Redfish, Flounder, Striped Bass, and Speckled Trout. The Fort is surrounded by submerged structure supporting an epic marine ecosystem!
