Berating bylines upsets an exhausted poet in Somewhere TX
I unscramble twisted images, just to feel the salty salutation
My muse swoops in to say, I hear the colors of your breath!!
Oh, but how can it be, when this vacant stare is all I see??
I found myself right now amused and finally ready to speak
No longer words left to play alone, I feverishly write
With bleeding pens and retractable hearts, I write for days!!
These frozen words on fire, streak miraculously across the page
Sparkling specks of fanciful visions, highlighted by nonsense
Oh how can this be, it resembles a self portrait of a kind??
Yes, now I see the delusion of moments missed, I weep
From somewhere deep inside, I dry my tears and think
My muses, they say what they say, they can be rat finks!!
The stolen glances of yesteryear, now what is this source??
Live life out there, not here, I’m terribly befuddled …
Breathe breathe breath, seasonal enchantments, here we go
Penning the path of this driftwood, now the woodwork waits
I pen and sculpt this story as one hundred bugles howl for it
The passage of time, this then is the thing, I should share
From this forest, a piece of driftwood is sojourning large
Where paths lead to new passages of time and space
Words on a page, barely contain such a transformation
Again I weep, for this poet's dampened dream of life and all
Lifting the inner ban, I feel for this once mammoth tree
Sculpting four dimensional realities from what remains
I deplore your inadequacy, I say to myself, tell the story…
If all the world is submerged in wonder, what of this tree??
Just as new stars forged in time exist, so must this energy
The tree is still alive!!! I hear it resonant as these solaces sing
In one form or another you are the epitome of . . .life!!
The tree, now driftwood, says to me, give your soul wings
Commonality's complacency rings so true in this moment now
The tree’s story is forever going, fly with words, I now believe.
