An EF1 tornado touched down in Choctaw County near Maddox Road along Mississippi Highway 9 at around 5:11 PM on November 29, 2022. The tornado damage to trees, moved across the Natchez trace parkway, and blew the roof off of a barn on stepping trees near Hester Road. It continued to cause damage along its track with peak winds at 90 mph.
The WTVA 9 News Severe Weather Authority was tracking the storm as part of a broader Level 4 out of 5 "Moderate" severe weather risk. The area was under a PDS Tornado Watch at the time of the strong tornado touchdown.
Thankfully there were no injuries or fatalities from the storm.
