Transgender Community Protests Rising Inflation in Karachi

Описание: Rising inflation in the country has affected every segment of society, while the transgender community is also facing severe economic hardship. The continuous increase in the prices of essential commodities, coupled with declining incomes, has made their lives even more difficult. To raise their voice against these challenges, a large number of members of the transgender community and their supporters gathered outside the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday and staged a protest.

During the demonstration, protesters performed dhamal, while holding banners and placards highlighting their demands. They called for immediate relief from rising prices and greater access to safe employment opportunities.

One placard carried by a protester particularly drew attention. Referring sarcastically to Pakistan’s multi-billion-dollar bailout agreements with the IMF, it read that while people are forced to beg on the streets, the government is “begging” for loans from international lenders.
