VaDununu is a lazy man who doesn’t like hard work. So when his wife asks him to go hunting for some game he tries to think of the easiest solution that will benefit him more than anyone else.
Without much experience, he decides that he will head off into the woods and be victorious. He expects to catch so much game in fact that he prepares to go with a measure of salt and grass to start a fire so that he can have a secret meal on his own.
He is in for a surprise.
And a lesson well learned!

patarika – looking for something in haste but be unable to find it
kukweva makumbo – dragging his feet
tswanda – a basket made of twigs, or cane, or rush, all interwoven

Stories are also a good way of teaching life lessons in a fun way. They are creative and can be tweaked to suit the child who is listening to them. Try telling your kids a story today and see if they can relate it to their world!
