Today i'll show you how to use the Terminal to save an exact image of any drive with MacOS or Linux. This tutorial is made on MacOS. For Linux you might have to change it up a bit. You dont need any extra programs or packages for this!
Commands:
To save on Mac Desktop:
cd /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop
To save on a drive:
cd /Volumes/NAMEOFYOURDRIVE
Command to see drives connected to your Computer:
diskutil list
Command to start the process to write the image onto your desired location:
sudo dd if=/dev/LOCATION OF YOUR DEVICE
of=NAMEYOURIMAGE.dmg
Depending on the size of your drive this can take a long time. But, it is still running. Dont stop the terminal. Just wait it out!
