Whitehouse reminded lawmakers that thousands of American soldiers owe their lives to Afghan translators, intelligence operatives, IED technicians, and special forces partners who fought shoulder to shoulder with U.S. forces. He exposed the fear-based rhetoric surrounding Afghan refugees with hard facts: out of 76,000 Afghans brought to the U.S. under Operation Allies Welcome, only six have been arrested.
That’s fewer arrests than the number of January 6 rioters who were re-arrested after being pardoned.
Calling it a moral obligation, Whitehouse slammed efforts to abandon America’s wartime allies and warned against rewriting history for political convenience.
