NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED (Unissued M~G~M recording) At a recording session at Bell Sound Studios in New York City on April 1, 1966 there were a total of four tracks of which only two would see the light of day and were issued as an M~G~M single in June of that year. A young 'leather lung' vocalist by the name of Ann Marie Anello was at the microphone. Not her first time in a recording studio, Ann had issued several singles previous to this date on the Reprise, ABC Paramount and Jubilee labels. This 1966 session was overflowing with musical talent. Top New York session singers, Peggy Santiglia, Bernadette Carroll and Denise Ferri were on background vocals, the session was produced by Bob Marcucci and arranged by the legendary, Charles Callelo. While the tunes, 'Diary' and 'You Won't Be Sorry Baby' were issued as an M~G~M single, 'Go Down By The Water' and 'The Petal Song (He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not)' would remain in the can. Both tunes were large productions that would justify them as separate 'A-side' tracks but that was not to be.
