In this vlog, I explore Bengaluru’s most loved seasonal food festival – Avarebele Mela. Every winter, this festival celebrates avarekai / avarebele (hyacinth beans) with 100+ unique dishes, ranging from traditional Karnataka recipes to modern fusion food.
Avarebele Mela started in the year 2000 with a simple goal — to support local farmers and prevent wastage of seasonal avarekai by giving them a direct marketplace. What began as a small initiative has today become one of Bengaluru’s biggest food festivals, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
