In September 2023, seismic stations across the globe began picking up a low-frequency signal repeating every 92 seconds. It lasted for nine days and came from a fjord in East Greenland.
A massive landslide had triggered a tsunami inside Dickson Fjord. But instead of dispersing, the wave began to oscillate, sloshing back and forth in a closed loop. The motion formed a standing wave powerful enough to tilt the Earth’s crust. Weeks later, it happened again after a second landslide from the same slope.
