It’s official. Governor Murphy has signed a new law in New Jersey that effectively ends the 3-class ebike system as we know it. From this point forward, every ebike—including Class 1 pedal-assist bikes—is legally classified as a motorized vehicle. This means if you live in or visit New Jersey, you are now facing mandatory registration, insurance, and licensing.
