Parents are children's first and most important teachers, with profoundinfluence on children's educational experiences.
Parents have an impact on education by shaping the home environment, communicating the importance
of schooling to children, and by having open communication with schools and teachers. Encouraging parental involvement in education can lead to substantial benefits for children, families and schools, especially among parents who may have limited experience with schooling themselves. This session will address strategies for engaging parents in education, focusing on approaches that address vulnerable populations of children and families.
