3-Ingredient Milo Ice Cream (No Condensed Milk, No Whipping Cream, No Egg)
I made this recipe because during MCO period my house does not have ice cream and we do not have whipping cream, heavy cream and condensed milk. It is great without condensed milk because it is less sweet. Corn starch acts as a thickener!
Ingredients
Milo
3 cups of Milk
3 tablespoons of Corn Starch
Salt (for taste, optional)
Instructions
1. In an empty bowl, add 3 tablespoons of corn starch and a pinch of salt (optional) and stir well. Set it aside.
2. In a small saucepan, heat 3 cups of milk in low heat.
3. When your milk is warm enough, you can slowly stir in the Milo powder, but be sure the milk is not boiled. Warm but not boiled.
4. Just slowly add in more Milo and just stir it together until you achieve the thickness/kaw-ness you desire. (I added 13 spoons haha)
5. When you’re satisfied with the thickness of your Milo mixture, you can slowly add them in to the cornstarch mixture.
6. Just slowly stir them in and be sure to keep on stirring the cornstarch mixture so that they can be well incorporated, and make sure there are no lumps.
7. Just keep stirring it and keep on adding the Milo mixture until it is about 1 cup of it in the cornstarch mixture.
8. When it is ready, pour in the milo and cornstarch mixture back into the saucepan with milo in low heat, lowest heat possible, to prevent it from burning. Keep stirring the mixture for about 1 minute until it is thick.
9. The thickness of the mixture should be able to cover your spoon entirely in a thick layer. The thicker your mixture is, the creamier you’re ice cream will be. Let your mixture be thick enough before you close your heat.
10. When it’s done, put it in a container and pop it in the fridge.
For ICE CREAM MAKER USERS:
1. Put the container in the fridge and it the mixture to become really cold, for about 2 hours or more.
2. Follow your ice cream maker instructions and churn it until it is thick. Pop it into the freezer for a few hours and serve it.
For those WITHOUT ICE CREAM MAKER:
1. Forget about the fridge. Pop the container into the freezer and take it out every 45 minutes to 1 hour.
2. Using a spoon, stir vigorously the mixture each time you take it out until it is frozen. You will need to take it out for around 4 times in total until it freezes up. (Roughly 45mins-1 hour between each time for 4 times in total, roughly 4 hours.)
Serve it. :)
