I caught myself doing it again.

Walking the way I used to. Same stride. Same stare at the ground. Same thoughts looping like tired songs.

I had left the Small world. But the Small hadn’t quite left me.

In the story of Ritt and Layla, Ritt meets a woman by a puddle. She is wearing a cracked porcelain mask. She speaks, but only in echoes. "My mother used to say..." "They always told me..."

She was a mirror. Nothing more.

Psychologists call this the Chameleon Effect. It is the brain’s "default mode network" seeking safety in sameness. We mimic to bond. We echo to belong. We wear the mask because we are terrified of the face underneath.

But survival is not sovereignty.

The word Persona comes from the Latin for "mask"—specifically, the mask worn by an actor to project a voice. We put on the mask to be heard. But ironically, the mask eventually silences us.

In the story, Layla finally asks a question that isn't an echo: "I don't know what's mine anymore."

She takes the mask off. She drops it in the puddle. And for the first time, she doesn't repeat Ritt. She hums her own tune.

We don’t begin blank. We begin shaped. By parents. By bosses. By the algorithm.

The journey of Non-Consciousness is the realization that the loudest voice in your head is usually a ghost. If you don't find the source, you are just a broken recorder.

You must walk into the meadow. You must listen to the silence beneath the noise.

That is where the Giants grow.
