Afghanistan Winter Hunt | Giant Fish Prep + Pit Bread + Horse Bow Hunt & Dried Fish Soup Surviving a brutal blizzard day in Afghanistan—stone cave-house warmth, a huge frozen fish thawed and cut on the ground, onions and potatoes harvested, fish seared on the clay hearth, and flatbread baked in a deep pit. After a hot-milk dinner with eating close-ups, the man rides out on horseback with a bow to take an antelope (non-bloody) and ice-fish dozens more. Back home the small fish are salted and wind-dried, meat is buried in a cold pit, dried-fish soup simmers, tomato-egg sauce cooks outside, and the family ends the night quietly as the baby sleeps in the cradle.
