A Tower Where Defence And Residence are Perfectly Interwoven | Tour Saint-Nicolas in La Rochelle

Описание: Welcome to the first of three magnificent towers in the French city of La Rochelle. In the 14th century the city was allowed to build these magnificent structures to defend their waterfront and they have remained standing up until this day. The Tour Saint-Nicolas is the tower resembling a castle or donjon the most. It is a special construction. Inside it was possible to achieve a total separation between the defensive aspects for the soldiers and the living quarters for the harbourmaster. Because of the intricate web of corridors and staircases it was possible for the two to never meet. Join us as we ascend this mighty tower and discover everything there is to learn!
