A pair of biomass freight trains, the first un-loaded and the second loaded, are seen in this video passing this small level crossing on a very quiet and pleasant road just outside of Eggborough, North Yorkshire. After both had passed, it appears as though the level crossing wasn't going to budge and may have been left lowered for a train that hadn't even passed Drax Branch Junction, and a good seven minutes or so away at the time, but the signaller seeing me there prompted them to raise the barriers a little late and unexpectedly. Apologies about this abrupt cutting into the raise sequence, and thankfully it was raised in enough time for me to fully film the sequence and safely get to the next location. It may otherwise not have seen a waiting soul even if it was left lowered.

This level crossing in its current form dates back to re-signalling in the mid-2010's, and was previously a gated crossing with a resident crossing keeper that opened the gates when a vehicle wished to cross, but now it has manually-operated barriers which are controlled from Ferrybridge and are lowered for approaching trains. Both alarms have low-pitched tones, and various embankments on this side allow you to safely get shots from wigwag / road traffic light-height or higher. I took advantage of some of these for the shots of the trains after going close to the alarm during the lowering sequence as usual.
