This information was presented today during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis in the National Assembly of Pakistan. According to reports, a large number of Pakistani beggars have been deported from Arab countries (particularly Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates). Saudi Arabia alone recently deported approximately 56,000 Pakistani beggars. Many of these were caught begging by abusing their Umrah visas. The UAE has deported approximately 6,000 Pakistani nationals on similar grounds. Furthermore, the UAE has significantly tightened visa regulations for Pakistanis due to security concerns and criminal activities. Azerbaijan has also deported approximately 2,500 Pakistani beggars. These figures are for 2024 and 2025. 90% of all beggars arrested abroad are reported to be of Pakistani origin. Saudi Arabia has warned that if this is not curbed, it could impact future visas for Umrah and Hajj pilgrims. This information was presented to a parliamentary panel by Rifat Mukhtar Raza, Director General of Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Furthermore, there are some other statistics that may surprise you: These Pakistani beggars earn ₹3.5 trillion annually, which represents 12% of Pakistan's GDP and 61% of Pakistan's total budget.
