Описание: In May 2001, at the All-Japan Aikido Demonstration (Embukai) in Tokyo’s Budokan, the venerable Morihiro Saito Shihan made a stirring final appearance. He had been battling cancer and by then appeared frail and bowed by illness (he would die the next year, his legs shaky and pale, he literally “could not stand unassisted” but he insisted on coming to the mat one last time. Around him, a hushed crowd of fellow aikidoka and admirers sensed the weight of the moment.

Beside Saito Sensei stood his longtime uchideshi — Tristão da Cunha *Portugal and Mark Larson *USA — ready as uke. With deliberate precision born of decades of practice, Saito moved through a repertoire of techniques. Each throw and pivot was careful and controlled, a testament to the mastery he had built over a lifetime. The air was thick with emotion as every eye in the hall watched quietly. When Saito finished and bowed, the crowd broke into enthusiastic applause.
In that echoing salute — claps, cheers and solemn nods — was gratitude for the man who had embodied the art’s spirit. It was a profoundly moving climax: a courageous final bow and a poignant tribute to Saito’s enduring legacy and spirit.
