One of the wonderful aspects of our time, especially with the advancements in technology, is how we can explore and learn about the natural world. There are incredible individuals who venture into the most challenging environments to document the behaviors of animals in ways that are truly astonishing. Recently, I watched a nature documentary about hyenas that showcased their fierce struggles for survival. In one dramatic scene, a hyena attacked a competing male, illustrating the harsh realities of life in the wild.
In contrast, I received a beautiful photograph today from George Balderrama at City Reach Church in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. It was a serene image of a polar bear resting on ice. George shared the following powerful message inspired by this photo:
Isaiah 41:10 states:
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
This verse reminds us that if God is present for a polar bear on an expanse of glacier ice, He is certainly with us, His beloved sons and daughters, today. God's love for us is deep and intentional.
God cares immensely for us; He not only loves us but listens to our needs every day. As we go through our lives, let us strive to honor Him in return for all that He does.
Reflecting on nature, we see how all creatures thrive. Birds, for instance, won’t stay awake at night unless they are caring for their young. They flourish because God provides for them. Just as it is written in Matthew 6:26:
"Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
We must remember our own worth in God's eyes, greater than even the sparrows or the lilies of the field, which He clothes with such beauty. We often fall into the trap of trying to solve our problems on our own. Yes, we have responsibilities, like working to provide for ourselves, but there are also moments when we need to turn to God—not just in times of trouble, but as a regular practice in our daily faith lives.
Our relationship with God isn’t transactional; it’s relational. It’s not about saying, “If I do A, B, and C, I’ll receive X, Y, and Z.” Instead, we need to foster an ongoing dialogue with God, much like how friendships grow through continuous communication.
Philippians 4:19 reassures us:
"And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus."
Yet, this requires faithfulness, even in small things—like generosity and helping others. Jesus noted in Matthew 25:40:
"Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me."
We shouldn't serve others with the expectation of receiving something in return. True service and generosity transform our hearts.
To cultivate our faith, we must immerse ourselves in God’s Word and pray regularly. Worry is, in many ways, a sin because it reflects a lack of faith in God's provision. When we worry about potential problems that haven't even occurred, we are choosing doubt over faith.
As you face your day, consider this: Will you choose to have faith in God's ability to provide and care for you? Will you trust that He will come through for you?
Thank you for joining us for "Wild Encounters: How Nature Reflects God's Love." Let's take a moment to pray together.
Heavenly Father,
In the name of Jesus, we come before You with grateful hearts. Thank You for the beauty of nature that surrounds us, reminding us of Your immense love and care for all creation. Sometimes, we take these wonders for granted as we become overwhelmed by our worries—whether about finances, job security, relationships, or the burdens that weigh heavily on our hearts.
Lord, we ask that You help us to discover solace and peace in You amidst these uncertainties. Just as You take care of the animals in the wild, we are reminded that You care for us even more deeply. Help us to trust in Your provision and to rest in Your embrace.
Thank You for loving us unconditionally and for Your constant presence in our lives. We give this time to You, Lord, and we place our worries and fears at Your feet.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
