DLE 55 RC Gas Engine Repair. Part 2 Assembly

Note: This is the first time I ever venture to repair a 2 cycle gas engine and I learned a couple of things. The most important one is that I would recommend assembling the 2 bearings and inner spacer before installing the crankshaft. This way you can avoid hammering on the inner bearing, given you don't have a press, while installing the crankshaft. The crankshaft seems to slide into the bearings fairly easy therefore you can use the old bearings to install the new ones and then slide in the crankshaft without having to hammer it in. In any case the right way to assemble the bearings and crankshaft is by using a hydraulic press. I didn't have the resources and chose to use a hammer, knowing this was not the right way to go by when installing the bearings. With this being said I don't recommend using a hammer to install the bearings and crankshaft like I did and would urge you to try find some sort of press in order to get this job done. One idea that employs simple things is by using a long bolt that could go through the bearings and spacer, two washers with the same diameter of the bearings and a nut. This way you could sandwich the bearings and spacer in between the washers using the nut and bolt as a press.
