Описание: My final year thesis project entitled "Automated Microfluidics Drilling Under Computer Numeric Control". Microfluidics deals with the behaviour, precise control and manipulation of fluids that are geometrically constrained to a small, typically sub-millimetre scale, best known generically as lab-on-a-chip technology. The research was based on designing an automated process for microfluidics sub-millimetre drilling of brittle substrates and to solve the multifaceted and complex problems associated. To that end I designed, fabricated and tested a 3-Axis micro-precision CNC mill capable of achieving successful fabrication of sub-millimetre ports on brittle microfluidics glass substrate materials; through the use of cutting speed of 20,000 rpm, peck cycling, tungsten carbide cutters......... The 3-Axis micro-precision CNC mill operated fully under automated control based on G-code programming allowing for multi parameter variable control and reprogramming for unrestricted microfluidics design application.
