Starting a New Side Project (Indie Game Devlog #1)

This is my first official indie game devlog for a new side project I'm creating! Game development can really be a long journey and I spent 2 years of my spare time, using Unity, in the development of my dream project. Taking a bit of a break from it right now to focus on releasing a smaller game in a reasonable time period, 3 to 6 months. For this game devlog, I focused on updating the weapon system to add some extra mechanics and visual effects (using Unity's shader and VFX graph), to make it more interesting. There was also a bit up performance optimization thrown in there too. With all of these updates, I think the weapon system is more or less complete, next I need to start working on the enemies or getting mobile controls working.
I'd love to hear what you guys think of it so far. Or if you're a gamedev yourself, I'm always interested in the stuff other people are making.
