Commodore 1541 floppy drives from the C64 era are known to be slow and unreliable. Even though modern alternatives exist (e.g. the SD2IEC device), sometimes you just need the real deal.
I wanted to run the fantastic "Edge Of Disgrace" demo by Booze Design on my original C64, but while loading the third floppy it crashed and repeated attempts did the same.
I did finally get to watch the demo on my original C64, but only after I managed to fix the 1541 disk drive by doing a head alignment. Here's how I did that.
