Every pregnancy matters. Every baby matters. And Every Week Counts.
This educational animation is designed to support meaningful conversations about preterm birth prevention, helping women, families and care providers understand why reaching full term (39–42 weeks) gives babies the strongest possible start in life.
The animation explains:
• What full term, early term and preterm really mean
• Why the final weeks of pregnancy are critical for brain and organ development
• The disproportionate impact of preterm birth on First Nations families
• Practical, evidence-based actions that can reduce the risk of preterm birth
Key prevention messages include:
✔️ Early and ongoing antenatal care
✔️ Continuity of care with a known midwife or care team
✔️ Support to quit smoking or vaping
✔️ Cervical length measurement at the mid-pregnancy scan
✔️ Vaginal progesterone for a shortened cervix
✔️ Allowing pregnancy to continue for as long as it is safe to do so
Developed to be clear, culturally considerate and accessible, this animation forms part of a broader education suite supporting shared decision-making and informed, respectful care.
