On this Uttarakhand trip, we bring you an "adventure" log from the Ladakh of Uttarakhand - Nelang or Nelong. The barren landscape of this valley closely resembles Spiti/Ladakh and Tibet more than the green hills of Uttarakhand, hence the name. :)
It is still a lesser explored, offbeat destination in Uttarakhand due to the permit restrictions.

Nelang (or Nelong) Valley was recently opened (2015) for Indian citizens. It was closed during the 1962 Indo China war. There is no road as such, but rather a dirt track which gets incredibly narrow at places. One of the most treacherous roads in the Himalayas.
