1939 Indian Sport Scout. I was able to purchase this bike out of Oklahoma with help from Mike Thomas of Kiwi Indian.
John Eagles purchased this bike in 1975 from Sammy Pierce as a project and completed the restoration in 1976.
The bike is painted in the 1939 World fair paint scheme. The colors are China red and black with gold stripes.
The Scout went through 3 collections across the country only covering a couple hundred miles in 40+ years.
When I received the bike it smoked horribly bad. Doug Burrnet of Merced California rebuilt the oil pump,set the timing and did a complete topend rebuild. The rest of the drive train was in great shape.
Somewhere along in the bikes ownership the original Schebler carburetor was swapped out for a Linkert M5 Harley carb. This carb gave the bike poor rideability.
I since replaced the M5 with a more correct Linkert M642 carb which has made the bike so much more enjoyable and reliable.
This is one of my favorite bikes in my collection.
