Lee Moore, the "Coffee Drinking Nighthawk" was a staunch defender of traditional country music and a loyal friend of Fonotone. His midnight-to-morning show on WWVA was a fixture for years until 1966, when it was killed off in favor of new-format Nashville product straight off the assembly line. ~ Eddie Dean
Lee had a big ole Martin sitting on a guitar stand between the turntables, and he would play a record or two, and then he'd start to pick his guitar and say, "Folks, I'm gonna sing you a song." And then the phone would ring and he'd answer it and somebody'd ask him if he could play something like I Hear Mother Calling, and he'd do that. ~ Ted Kreh (from the liner notes)
