In this workshop you will learn how to create and composite foliage and props on a Massive Worlds scale using Houdini and PCG. The participants will be shown how to use the upcoming Massive Worlds Toolkit v1.2 compositing pipeline. You will then learn how to instantiate and re-instantiate these objects into an open world environment, with the simple click of a button, using a PCG driven widget in Unreal.
Co-hosted by Erwin Heyms & Oscar Cerro.
-------------------------------------------
Leveraging Unreal 5 features, such as Landscape Edit Layers, PCG and a unique Externalised Data Structure to manipulate and build upon your Unreal Landscapes, use this non-destructive, Houdini empowered pipeline to procedurally shape your worlds.
This first "Vertical Slice" of the Massive Worlds Toolkit v1.2, features the initial release of new nodes and Unreal features designed around spawning foliage, as well as a new RVT based Landscape Material. The toolset allows teams to iterate and collaborate on procedurally dressed environments, using prop grids in Unreal, which are fully compatible with Unreal's world partition workflow. Allowing users to combine various sets of Houdini generated point clouds, such as foliage and rocks from different biomes, with road props and RVT decals.
With more parts of the toolkit to be included in future Vertical Slide releases.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
To manage massive worlds, besides the required hardware to run Unreal 5.5. The main requirements for the Massive Worlds toolkit are System Memory, GFX memory and to some extent CPU power. Recommended specs differ depending on the size of the world map you intend to make, and the resolution of the landscape (Meters Per Pixel).
Important notes about system specs:
Memory :
32 GB memory and a GTX 3080 with 10 Gb of VRAM:
Recommended Max: 6x6 km Landscapes at 1 MpP terrain resolution.
Maximum: 8x8 km per individual landscape at 1 MpP terrain resolution.
64 GB memory and a GTX 3090 or 4090 with 24 Gb of VRAM:
Recommended Max: 12x12 km Landscapes at 1 MpP terrain resolution.
Maximum: 16x16 km per individual landscape at 1 MpP terrain resolution.
128 GB memory is recommended for overal performance and 'breathing space' when working with lots of assets and multiple landscape datasets simultaniously.
