Mess of Emptiness
written and performed by Steven Paul Clark, copyright 2016, all rights reserved.
This is essentially a two chord song - flavors of F & G. It came out of a songwriting exercise to "write a two chord song". I like it, I hope you do.
The performance is at the Bedford, Virginia venue Clamdiggers - the monthly open mic hosted by Jodie Davis. Ben Epperly on keyboard, David Merritt on Drums, Scott Bull on sax, Rob on bass. This is our first performance together of this song without any practice session - in the spirit of open mic fun. Sure, it's more fun in the moment than in replay, but hopefully the fun comes thru over any performance flaws.
Mess of Emptiness
Where do you run?
Where do you hide?
Where do your tears pearl to sweat when you lay down and cry?
He left you alone
With uneven words
Said it was love at its best flying free from the nest like the birds
Didn’t ask you for a yes
There was no sorry in this mess…
… of emptiness
Used to have fun
The places you lied
Shed early fears, whirling yet where you played loud and wild
He sure made you laugh
With uneven words
Said it was love at its best when you flew the blue sky like the birds
Didn’t ask you for a yes
There was no sorry in this mess…
… of emptiness
Where do you run?
Where do you hide?
Where do your tears pearl to sweat when you lay down and cry?
He left you alone
Повторяем попытку...
