Описание: Psychology of People Who Replay Conversations

You are finally ready to sleep. The room is dark. And then, suddenly, your brain plays a clip from 2018: "That one awkward thing you said." You physically cringe. You feel the shame all over again. In this video, we decode the neuroscience of "Post-Event Processing" and why your brain is obsessed with editing conversations that happened years ago.

We often think we replay conversations because we are "obsessed" or "stupid." That is false. According to the Cornell University study by Thomas Gilovich, this is a cognitive glitch called "The Spotlight Effect." Your brain thinks everyone is watching you, so it treats every social mistake as a threat to your survival. Today, we learn how to turn off the "internal movie projector" and finally find peace.

[⏳ TIMESTAMPS] 0:00 - The "Cringe Attack" (Somatic Experience) 0:50 - The "Shower Argument": Why we debate ghosts 1:35 - The Spotlight Effect (Cornell University Study) 2:25 - The Amygdala's Mistake: Why awkwardness feels like death 3:10 - The "Zoom Out" Method to stop the loop 4:00 - Why nobody remembers your mistakes (The Freedom)

[📚 RECOMMENDED READING] These are the books that explain why we overthink and how to control the voice in our head:

📘 "Chatter: The Voice in Our Head, Why It Matters, and How to Harness It" by Ethan Kross The best book on how to stop the "internal loop" of negative thoughts. 👉 Get the Book: https://www.amazon.com/Chatter-Voice-...

📕 "The Wisest One in the Room" by Thomas Gilovich & Lee Ross Written by the researcher who discovered "The Spotlight Effect." Essential reading for social anxiety. 👉 Get the Book: https://www.amazon.com/Wisest-One-Roo...

📗 "The Chimp Paradox" by Prof Steve Peters Explains why your "Amygdala" (The Inner Chimp) freaks out over small social mistakes. 👉 Get the Book: https://www.amazon.com/Chimp-Paradox-...

[🧠 RESEARCH & CONCEPTS] Scientific concepts discussed in this analysis:

Post-Event Processing (PEP): A form of rumination where individuals obsessively review past social interactions to find flaws.

The Spotlight Effect: The psychological phenomenon where people tend to believe they are being noticed more than they really are.

Social Survival Theory: The evolutionary concept that social rejection was once a death sentence, which is why our brains hyper-focus on "fitting in."

[🗣️ JOIN THE DISCUSSION] Question for the Community: Be honest: Where do you have your best arguments? (e.g., The Shower, The Car, While doing dishes) 👇 Tell us in the comments. You are not the only one.
