The Enhancing Women’s Leadership and Participation in Cuba's Renewable Energy Sector (FORMER) project is improving the social and economic well-being of women and vulnerable communities through climate-resilient renewable energy solutions.
Implemented by Cowater International and funded by Global Affairs Canada, the project supports women’s leadership, technical training, and entrepreneurship while expanding access to sustainable energy in remote communities, including Holguín.
By replacing diesel generators and installing solar systems, FORMER-Cuba is helping communities move from limited electricity access to reliable, long-term renewable energy — creating opportunity, resilience, and lasting impact.
