-I bought mine from SolarTown last year, but they are currently sold out. Unfortunately, the price just continues to go up on these fans :(
Sealant (2 tubes):

Butyl Tape:

Additional items needed:
1. Safety gear (goggles and mask)
2. Jigsaw
3. Electric or regular hand saw
4. Wood pieces (2) 14-inch and (2) 17-inch
with a 1.5 inch thickness
5. Screws for wooden frame
6. Rags for wiping off roof
7. Power drill / Impact driver
8. Hole saw
9. 4 clamps
10. Caulk gun
11. Ladder
Some additional tips:
-I’ve been told you should NOT buy the cheap butyl tape. Spend a little extra to make sure you have tape that is not too sticky or difficult to apply. I really liked the one I got.
-I suggest buying two cans of sealant just in case. I used EXACTLY one tube, and I probably could have used a little more. Plus, you can always go back over it a few days/weeks/months later if needed or wanted. I bought self-leveling sealant so that I didn’t have to work as hard. :p
-I used an 18 TPI metal cutting blade for the jigsaw. I tried a 10 TPI blade at first, and it was cracking the fiberglass too much and making a rougher cut. You may need to mess around with a few different blades to find the one that works best with your roof thickness/materials. I also could not get the blade to cut corners that well which is why I drilled holes at all four corners to cut between.
-I tried both a hand saw and an electric saw on the last piece at the end. I didn’t really like how either of them cut the plastic. The electric saw worked faster, but it melted the edges a bit and I had to smooth them all down. This cut doesn’t have to be perfect because of the way it is screwed together, but I didn’t find the best solution for this.
-The wood blocks had to be used for the clamps because the lip on the fan sticks out too far to clamp it without them.
-The 4 wood frame pieces were all cut with a 1.5-inch thickness on all sides. 2 pieces were 14 inches long, and 2 pieces were 17 inches long. This was for a 14 x 14 inch fan. They were cut to that width because of the size of the screws that come with the fan. We also chose that thickness to allow more room for the screws that are closer to the edge of the fan frame. You are welcome to make the thickness larger or a little smaller if you choose. If you make it larger, also make sure it fits on the inside first. Because my hightop slopes down, I could not have made mine any thicker on two of the sides.
-REMEMBER, I made a wood frame because my roof is so thin and is only made of fiberglass. Some roofs have two fiberglass layers and/or wood as well. A frame may not be needed for your van.
Let me know if you have any other questions about the installation!
Shout out to my uncle for helping me!! :)
